E36? What and why? Care to elaborate?

I was never a fan of the diagonal-engine layout, except in the case of front-right wheel drive, like this beauty.

Lol.
Related, I am legitimately bothered by the offsetness of R8/Huracan/Gallardo engines. They’re so close to being centered. But then they’re not.

I believe that is due to the transfer case/transaxle setup for the awd.

Cannot unsee that, damn you.

Of course, GM and others *did* have angled drive on buses for a long while, but usually the engine itself was straight transverse...

Leave it like that, install engine/electric motor in the rear. Drive around and confuse the shit out of everyone.

I mean I’d guess the alternative is unequal length half shafts. That comes with their own set of problems.
You know how they could fix this? Make the strut brace also asymmetric. No one would ever know the engine is off then.

Lol, yeah that would be my fix, or maybe even just not put the whole thing under glass.....
